Chrysler Group- Dodge Charger NASCAR 1974 at Le Mans 1976

This Petty-built Dodge Charger won the 1977 USAC National Championship with Paul Feldner. It was restored by Chuck Shafer and later painted in “Oly Express” colors and upgraded for 2012 Le Mans Classic by Dick Pierson. Pierson was part of the original team of Hershel McGriff, who raced in a similar Dodge Charger with his son Doug McGriff at 1976 Le Mans 24 Hours. The engine unfortunately seized after a few laps in the race. Present owner Christophe Schwartz since 2006.

Specification: category NASCAR; chassis by Petty Enterprise; Engine 426 Hemi producing 595 hp ; Dry weight 1680 kg (3700 lbs). Top speed is announced over 300 kph. 1976 Le Mans best qualification lap time at 4 min 29 by Hershel McGriff.
